Bill Title: Expanding eligibility in certain public employment positions for lawful permanent residents.
Committee: Community Safety and Justice and Reentry - House
Companion Bill: NONE
Bill Summary:
AN ACT Relating to expanding eligibility in certain public employment positions for lawful permanent residents
What the Bill says:
A general authority Washington law enforcement agency or limited authority Washington law enforcement agency may consider the application of a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident for any office, place, position, or employment within the agency.
Our Summary Opinion:
This bill allows for the employment of police officers, sheriff deputies and state troopers to be employed without citizenship. These are individuals who have not taken the oath of citizenship to uphold the constitution and laws of this country. How can we expect them to uphold them as they take away our jobs? This is not okay!
Passed in the Senate on party lines. Has a hearing in the House on March 21st at 4:00 PM
