Bill Summary:
- AN ACT Relating to enhancing requirements for the purchase or transfer of firearms by requiring a permit to purchase firearms, specifying standards for firearms safety training programs, and specifying circumstances where a firearm transfer may be delayed;
What the Bill says:
- It will require you to get a permit to purchase absolutely every firearm you want to buy. It will delay your purchase but more importantly it will obstruct your 2nd amendment right to own a weapon.
Our Summary Opinion:
- It is unconstitutional both at the US federal level and Washington State level. Our state is NOT allowed to keep a registry of guns and gun owners. So either they are going to violate that constitutional amendment in our state constitution or they are going to waste a lot of time and money permitting every single purchase individually. Currently you do not need permission to buy a gun… don’t let them make that change to your rights!
Status: The house bill had a hearing on January 16th, the senate has not scheduled a hearing as yet.
