- AN ACT Relating to revoking a person’s voting rights only when convicted of a state crime punishable by death; amending RCW 29A.04.079, 29A.08.520, 29A.08.230, 29A.08.810, 29A.40.091, 29A.68.020, 10.64.140, 72.09.275, and 2.36.070; adding a new section to chapter 29A.08 RCW; and creating a new section.
What the Bill says:
- Everyone has the right to vote unless they are sentenced to death for crimes committed. Since Inslee abolished the death penalty that means EVERYONE can vote.
Our Summary Opinion:
- Not only can an inmate vote but they can serve on jury duty! This is nuts. There is no death penalty in our state and the Democrats hope you don’t notice that this bill would allow the Green River Killer to vote and serve on a jury!
Status: No hearing is scheduled in the State Government & Tribal Relations Committee.
