- AN ACT Relating to school district elections; amending RCW 28A.535.020, 28A.535.050, 84.52.056, 39.36.020, 28A.530.020, and 28A.315.285; and providing a contingent effective date.
What the Bill says:
- The bill states that the minimum imposed for passing a levy to fund education will be reduced from the current standard of 3/5ths to 50% + 1 vote.
Our Summary Opinion:
- It is altering the ability of the tax payers to control the school funding increases since they have had many levies fail post Covid AND they have tried several times during SPECIAL ELECTIONS in February and April.
Status: The house bill has not been scheduled for a hearing since it was sent to the Education on January 13th.
